World Intellectual Property Day- April 26

World Intellectual Property Day is celebrated annually on 26 April. Events organized to mark the Day seek to inform about the role of intellectual property rights in encouraging innovation and creativity. Intellectual property (IP) is a category of property that includes intangible creations of the human intellect.                               "This year the Theme, as determined by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is IP and SMEs: 'Taking your ideas to the market'.According to WIPO, “Every business starts with an idea. Each of the millions of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that operate across the globe every day started with an idea that took shape in someone’s mind and made its way to market.”Intellectual property rights are legal rights that provide creators protection for original works, inventions, or the appearance of products, artistic works, scientific developments, and so on. Intellectual property rights (IP) include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets, Industrial design rights, trade dress, geographical indications,etc.
               About World IP Day                                  In 2000, WIPO's member states designated April 26 – the day on which the WIPO Convention came into force in 1970 – as World Intellectual Property Day with the aim of increasing general understanding of intellectual property (IP). Since then, World IP Day has offered a unique opportunity each year to join with others around the globe to consider how IP contributes to the flourishing of music and the arts and to driving the technological innovation that helps shape our world.         Intellectual property rights are legal rights that provide creators protection for original works, inventions, or the appearance of products, artistic works, scientific developments, and so on.
