International Yoga Day - June 21

International Day of Yoga is celebrated with much fervour every year on June 21. This year, the International Yoga Day 2021 will be celebrated on Monday i.e. today, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the seventh such event at 6:30am. The theme for the International Day of Yoga this year is 'Yoga for wellness', a motto aligned to the current pre-occupations. As it is an event of a global scale, preparations for the International Yoga Day event usually begin 3-4 months prior, ultimately culminating in a grand programme where millions of people come together to observe the spiritual history and significance of the day.     

                           

International Yoga Day: 2021 theme

2021 International Day of Yoga, to be observed today, i.e. Monday (June 21), carries the theme "Yoga for well-being", much relevant for our times in a society still recovering from the impact of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.       

                                        The Covid-19 plight was not just a physical crisis, it also left lasting impacts on mental health, with many left in psychological suffering, depression, and anxiety dealing with the pandemic-necessitated restrictions and loss. World Refugee Day - We Stand Together With Refugees

 Refugee Day is observed on 20 June globally. It is a day to create awareness about the refugees who are scattered in different parts of the world because they have been trying to escape conflicts, water crisis, climate change and internal issues.

The United Nations (UN) designated day, aims to respect and honour the courage and determination of refugees in the world. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the condition and vulnerability of refugees have been the biggest talking point and concern.

During strict lockdown, many countries globally closed their borders to combat the spread of the virus. Following which, lakh of refugees were left without proper health care and support, leading to a huge crisis.

Through this special day, the UN hopes to build up public awareness and support for human rights of refugees.                                                                          2021 World Refugee Day theme: Together we heal, learn and shine.

Father’s Day- June 20🧔🧔

In India, Father's Day is celebrated on the third Sunday in the month of June. This year, it falls on June 20.

Father’s day also extends to those bonds which are equivalent to parental bonds. The day is dedicated to honouring and celebrating not only fathers, but also father figures who shape our minds, thoughts and are instrumental in giving wings to our wishes and desires. This day is dedicated to the efforts and sacrifices our fathers selflessly do for us.

A Webinar On Reading Day

A webinar on "വായനയിലേക്ക് ഒരു എത്തിനോട്ടം "was conducted on 19 th June. The program coordinators are Mrs Jeena Rani M.S (Asst Prof.in Hindi). The theme was presented Dr. P.G. Sasikala (HOD & Asso.prof In Hindi SN College, Kollam).

വായിച്ചാലും വളരും വായിച്ചില്ലെങ്കിലും വളരുംവായിച്ചാല്‍ വിളയും, വായിച്ചില്ലെങ്കില്‍ വളയും

ഇ- ലോകത്തിന്റെ വേഗതയില്‍ മുന്നേറുന്ന ഇന്ന് വായനയ്ക്കായൊരു ദിനം, അതാണ് ജൂണ്‍ 19. പുതു തലമുറയ്ക്ക് വായനയില്‍ കമ്പം കുറയുമ്പോഴും പലര്‍ക്കും പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ ഗൃഹാതുരമായ ഓര്‍മ്മയുടെ ഭാഗമാണ്. വിജ്ഞാന, വിനോദ സമ്പാദനത്തിന് ഒരുകാലത്ത് മുഖ്യ സ്രോതസായിരുന്ന വായനയെ അങ്ങനെ വേഗം മറക്കാവുന്നതുമല്ലല്ലോ.

കേരള ഗ്രന്ഥശാലാ സംഘത്തിന്‍റെ സ്ഥാപകനായ പി.എന്‍. പണിക്കരുടെ ചരമദിനമാണ് വായനാദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നത്. വായിച്ചുവളരുക എന്ന സന്ദേശം ജനങ്ങളിലെത്തിച്ച പി.എന്‍. പണിക്കരെ സ്മരിക്കാനും അദ്ദേഹം തുടങ്ങിവച്ച കര്‍മപരിപാടികളുടെ തുടര്‍ച്ചയായിട്ടുള്ള ഒരു പ്രവര്‍ത്തന ശൃംഖല വ്യാപകമാക്കുവാനും വായന ഒരു ശീലമാക്കാനും ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടാണ് പരിപാടി നടത്തുന്നത്.എന്നാല്‍ ഇന്ന് കുട്ടികളില്‍ വായനയും പുസ്തകവും പാഠപുസ്തകമായി മാറിക്കഴിഞ്ഞ ഈ കാലത്ത് ഇന്റര്‍നെറ്റിലൂടെ ചില വായനകള്‍ പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു. വായനയ്ക്ക് പുതിയ മുഖങ്ങള്‍ വരികയും പുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് പകരക്കാരുണ്ടാകുകയും ചെയ്തെങ്കിലും വായനയ്ക്കോ വായനാദിനത്തിനോ പ്രാധാന്യം കുറയുന്നില്ല.

വായിച്ചാല്‍ വളരും ഇല്ലെങ്കില്‍ വളയുമെന്നു കുഞ്ഞുണ്ണി മാഷ്‌ പറഞ്ഞത് ഒരു തലമുറയെ മാത്രം ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചല്ല. വായന വിനോദത്തിനും വിജ്ഞാനത്തിനുമപ്പുറം മനുഷ്യന്റെ സംസ്കാരത്തെ ചിട്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഒന്നാണ്. പത്രങ്ങളും മാസികകളും മറ്റുമായി നാട്ടിന്‍പുറങ്ങളില്‍ ലൈബ്രറി സജീവമായിരുന്ന ഒരു കാലം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. എന്നാല്‍ ഇന്ന് വായന വിരള്‍ തുമ്പിലെ ഒരു ടച്ചിലേക്ക് ചുരുങ്ങിക്കഴിഞ്ഞുപുസ്തകവും വായനക്കാരനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ജൈവിക ബന്ധം ഇ- വായനയുടെ ലോകത്ത് നഷ്ടമായി. വിരള്‍ തുമ്പിലെ സ്പര്‍ശനത്താല്‍ വിരിയുന്ന മായകാഴ്ചകളുടെ മുന്നില്‍ വായന ഭാവനയുടെ സൈബര്‍ സാധ്യതകള്‍ തുറക്കുന്നു. സ്കൂള്‍ബസിലെ കണ്ണാടി ചില്ലിനാപ്പുരത്തെ വെള്ളം മാത്രമായി മഴ മാറുകയും നെല്‍ച്ചെടി പ്രോജക്ടിലെ അരിച്ചെടിയായി ഒതുങ്ങുകയും ചെയ്തപ്പോള്‍ മണ്ണിനെയും പ്രകൃതിയെയും അറിയാത്ത യുവ തലമുറ നമുക്ക് മുന്നില്‍ വളര്‍ന്നു. അവരുടെ ബാക്കി പത്രമായ മറ്റൊരു തലമുറ പേപ്പര്‍ ചുരുളുക്കള്‍ക്ക്‌ അപ്പുറത്ത് ഈ വായനുടെ വാതായനം തുറന്നു.

പുസ്തകം എന്നാല്‍ പാഠപുസ്തകങ്ങള്‍ എന്നതില്‍ കവിഞ്ഞ് ഒരു സങ്കല്‍പം വിദ്യാര്‍ത്ഥികള്‍ക്ക് ഇല്ലാതായി തുടങ്ങിയിട്ട് കാലമേറെയായി. അവധികാല ക്ലാസുകളിലെ വായനകളില്‍ കൂടി സ്റ്റേറ്റ് സെന്‍ട്രല്‍ ലൈബ്രറികള്‍ വായനയുടെ പുതിയ അനുഭവം പകര്‍ന്നു നല്‍കുന്ന പരിപാടികള്‍ ആവിഷ്കരിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് രംഗത്തെത്തിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു. 2 മാസത്തെ വെക്കേഷന്‍ എങ്ങനെയെങ്കിലും തീരട്ടെയെന്നതിനപ്പുറം വായനയുടെ ലോകങ്ങളിലേക്കുള്ള വാതായനങ്ങള്‍ കുട്ടികള്‍ക്ക് മുന്നില്‍ വികസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഇനിയും അസ്തമിക്കാത്ത വായന അപൂര്‍വ്വ വസ്തുവായി മാറാതിരിക്കാന്‍ വായനാദിനങ്ങള്‍ കാരണമാകട്ടെ.

വായനദിനം ജൂൺ 19 - "വായിക്കുക.. നന്മയുള്ള ചിന്തകളെ ഉണർത്താൻ.."📖📖📖

1996 മുതൽ കേരള സർക്കാർ ജൂൺ 19 വായന ദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു.[1] ജൂൺ 19 മുതൽ 25 വരെയുള്ള ഒരാഴ്ച വായനവാരമായും കേരളാ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പ് ആചരിക്കുന്നു. കേരള ഗ്രന്ഥശാലാ സംഘത്തിന്റെ ഉപജ്ഞാതാവും പ്രചാരകനുമായിരുന്ന പുതുവായിൽ നാരായണ പണിക്കർ എന്ന പി.എൻ. പണിക്കരുടെ ചരമദിനമാണ് ജൂൺ 19. കേരള സർക്കാർ 1996മുതൽ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചരമദിനം വായനദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു.[2] സ്കൂളുകളിൽ ഇ-റീഡിങ് പ്രചരിപ്പിയ്ക്കുവാനായി റീഡിങ് ക്ലബ്ബുകളും ഐ.ടി. ക്ലബ്ബുകളും ഇലക്ട്രോണിക് ക്ലബ്ബുകളും ആരംഭിയ്ക്കാൻ ഈ സമയം വിനിയോഗിയ്ക്കുന്നു.2017 മുതൽ ദേശീയ വായനാദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു. 

                                    

പുതുവായിൽ നാരായണ പണിക്കർ

ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ നീലംപേരൂരിൽ ജനനം:1909 മാർച്ച് 1 മരണം: 1995 ജൂൺ 19 . അച്ഛൻ ഗോവിന്ദപ്പിള്ള , അമ്മ ജാനകിയമ്മ. കൂട്ടുകാർക്കൊപ്പം വീടുകൾ കയറി പുസ്തകങ്ങൾ ശേഖരിച്ച്‌ ജന്മനാട്ടിൽ 'സനാതനധർമം' വായനശാല ആരംഭിച്ചാണ് അദ്ദേഹം ഗ്രന്ഥശാലാ പ്രസ്ഥാനം ആരംഭിച്ചത്. കേരളത്തിലുടനീളം സഞ്ചരിച്ച് "വായിച്ചു വളരുക; ചിന്തിച്ച് വിവേകം നേടുക" എന്ന് കുട്ടികളോട് ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്തു. 1945 സെപ്റ്റംബറിൽ തിരുവിതാംകൂർ ഗ്രന്ഥശാല സമ്മേളനം സംഘടിപ്പിച്ചു.1947 ൽ ഗ്രന്ഥശാലാസംഘം രജിസ്റ്റർ ചെയ്തു. 1949 ജൂലൈയിൽ തിരു-കൊച്ചി ഗ്രന്ഥശാലസംഘം എന്നാക്കി. 1958 ൽ കേരള ഗ്രന്ഥശാലാസംഘം ഉണ്ടായി. ഗ്രന്ഥശാല ഇല്ലാത്ത ഒരു ഗ്രാമവും കേരളത്തിലുണ്ടാവരുതെന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു. അതിനായി അദ്ദേഹം പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു.

World Blood Donor Day 14 June

World Blood Donor Day takes place on 14 June each year. The aim is to raise global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion and of the critical contribution voluntary, unpaid blood donors make to national health systems. The day also provides an opportunity to call to action to governments and national health authorities to provide adequate resources and put into place systems and infrastructures to increase the collection of blood from voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors.

Safe blood and blood products and their transfusion are a critical aspect of care and public health. They save millions of lives and improve the health and quality of life of many patients every day. The need for blood is universal, but access to blood for all those who need it is not. Blood shortages are particularly acute in developing countries.     

                                         

Focus of this year’s campaign

For 2021, the World Blood Donor Day slogan will be “Give blood and keep the world beating”. The message highlights the essential contribution blood donors make to keeping the world pulsating by saving lives and improving others’ health. It reinforces the global call for more people all over the world to donate blood regularly and contribute to better health.

A special focus of this year’s campaign will be the role of young people in ensuring a safe blood supply. In many countries, young people have been at the forefront of activities and initiatives aimed at achieving safe blood supplies through voluntary, non-remunerated blood donations. Young people form a large sector of the population in many societies and are generally full of idealism, enthusiasm and creativity.

The specific objectives of this year’s campaign are to:

• thank blood donors in the world and create wider public awareness of the need for regular, unpaid blood donation;
• promote the community values of blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and social cohesion;
• encourage youth to embrace the humanitarian call to donate blood and inspire others to do the same;
• celebrate the potential of youth as partners in promoting health.
